The Classroom is an education and research lab, set in the working environment of Nikola-Lenivets Art Park. It analyses and documents the practices that have developed in the Park, as well as designs future ways of living and working in harmony with nature and local communities, while using the newest technologies available.

The lab works to create a vision for a new rural way of life. We analyse the culture and aesthetics of Russian village life and suggest a future development scenario, taking into account current trends in digital farming, new artistic and craft movements, and a post-labour, de-urbanising future.
The Nikola-Lenivets Art Park internship
In Nikola-Lenivets Classroom we bring together a multidisciplinary teams of architects, sociologists, programmers, scientists and artists to participate in collective think-tanks and design workshops. Each workshop generates a proposal which is based on the research we do in the Park but which has global relevance and reach. Past topics include: The Virtual Museum: in the open air, Degrowth: Architecture Povera, The New Rural: designing a contemporary village and Art as Labour: physical labour and craft in a post-work future.
Your Role
- Interns will work as researchers and teaching assistants at the Nikola-Lenivets Classroom
- internship period: three-months minimum
- be immersed in the life of Nikola-Lenivets Art Park, attending evening lectures and design sessions which take place as part of the workshops, but will also be expected to develop your own vector of research
- help us design a spatial and cultural proposal for how people can live and prosper in the contemporary and future rural condition, in Russia and beyond
- assist with administrative and organisational tasks relating to workshop and think-tank organisation
